Professional Certification

You can earn the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) rating or Certified Administrative Professional with Organizational Management specialty (CAP-OM) rating through IAAP.  The CAP exam is a one-day exam, with three parts.  The CAP-OM exam is a one and one-half day exam, with four parts.  The exams are administered each May and November.  Although achieving certification is recommended, it is not a requirement for IAAP membership.

Who is Eligible?

To attain the CAP or CAP-OM rating, a candidate must meet certain educational and work experience requirements.

Recertification

CAP and CAP-OM holders are required to recertify every five years, assuring that you remain abreast of new technologies, techniques and issues in the profession.  Failure to comply with mandatory recertification requirements will require individuals to reapply and retest to regain active certification.
